Is Your Marketing Working As It Used To?

The market is on the move. Increasingly, coaches are getting to grips with being entrepreneurs, marketers, product developers and much more.

Alexandria Brown, the Ezine Queen, says that the most important skill a coach can posses is marketing and this is more important than coaching skills. This may sound harsh but take a moment to reflect…. If you don’t have marketing skills, then how are you going to get clients?

The changes in the market are happening for two major reasons.

1. More coaches
More and more coaches qualifying from the various coaching schools in sometimes quite large numbers means you have to make sure your coaching services are focused on a particular market. But, even having a niche, still requires you to be different.

Lots of coaches focus on a broad category such as confidence and consider narrowing it to say, confidence in midlife. Yet, is this specific enough? There are a number of issues that can dent the confidence of women in midlife – divorce, redundancy, death of spouse, becoming an empty nester. Are you able to demonstrate credibility in all these areas.

Yes, the coaching schools may say that you don’t have to have knowledge of the area to coach. But, to be credible in the marketplace, for clients to feel comfortable buying, you have to demonstrate understanding, empathy and knowledge.

So you see, understanding what you bring to the business in terms of experience and passion is just as important as your coaching skills and ongoing professional development.


2. The Market is Growing
This is good news. This means more prospects, more clients and you being busier than before….right?

Well, yes and no. The good news is that there are more people. The bad news is that they are more cautious and will want to be reassured before they buy high priced coaching programs.

Prospects and clients are looking for solutions and a 121 coaching relationship is just one way of providing that solution. Why limit yourself to that... when there are other ways that people can have solutions to fit their style and pocket.

Now more than ever before, creating a marketing funnel is essential to create a flow of clients on your 121 programs


This can be a combination of passive income products, training programs and group coaching. But, what is essential is attention to how these products fit together and how they resolve the issues of your market.

Be bold in your business. Review your skills and qualities. Find the problems your market is grappling with and work with them to create a range of services so you make a difference to a wide number of people AND have the life you desire.
